Primary Responsibility:
Reporting to the Claims Manager, the Assistant Claims Manager shall assist in the planning and execution of effective and efficient operational performance of the Claims department in accordance with the company’s policies and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and maintain expeditious and efficient processing of claims.
- Ensuring that all claims fall within the scope of the respective insurance policy.
- Set standards or service level benchmarks (and regularly review) in line with the industry practices.
- Ensure that the company maintains adequate reserves for all the claims and monitor the utilization of the same with a view to initiating remedial actions.
- Ensure that the identification, appointment and management of service providers is efficient and all the service level agreements are adhered to.
- Notify any adverse claims/and anomalies to underwriters in order to assist in continuous improvement of the risk.
- Preparation of periodical claims report and other management reports relating to claims. This will also include weekly claims statistics.
- Monitor and review departmental performance, appraising, training and development of staff in the department.
- Ensure recruitment and maintenance of the right staff and oversee continuous training to improve performance and career growth.
- Keep an eye on all fraudulent cases and close all the possible loops holes.
- Maintain discipline in the department.
- Facilitate salvage disposal through E-Bidding .
- Prepare and submit regulator report on a monthly basis.
- Attending meetings for dispute resolution.
- Review of service providers performance.
- Review and processing of non-motor claims.
- Review and preparation of SLAs.
- Data protection champion for the claims department.
- Review of staff performance.
- Ensure optimal third-party recoveries.
- Evaluation of the claim forms from time to time.
- Review and evaluation of claim documents.
- Any other duties assigned to you by the Claims Manager that are pertinent to the Claims Department.

Knowledge & Work Experience
- At least 7 years’ working experience in Claims Department, two of which must be in a similar role.
Academic and Professional Qualifications required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Insurance or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Insurance, AIIK or CII.
