About the Role
- We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to support the development of She Code Africa's platforms. If you are passionate about writing efficient and scalable code while contributing to a mission-driven organization, this role is for you. You will help build and maintain robust backend systems that power our web and mobile applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs
- Manage backend technical support for the Summit website
- Work with databases, authentication, and server-side logic
- Optimize application performance and scalability
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth integration
- Identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks
- Opportunity to mentor or facilitate She Code Africa programs (optional but encouraged)
Requirements
- Experience with backend programming languages like Node.js and Python
- Familiarity with databases (SQL, MongoDB, Firebase, etc.)
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and authentication mechanisms
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Passionate about supporting the growth of women and girls in tech and committed to giving back through volunteering
