Lecturer - Religious Studies

Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to: Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students; Develop course materials and instructional resources;ii Conduct research and publish scholarly work; Participate in curriculum development and review; Set, administer, and mark examinations; Advise and mentor students; Participate in departmental, School, and University activities; Engage in community service and church-related outreach programmes; Supervise students’ research projects where applicable; Participate in academic advising, student mentorship, and spiritual nurture activities; Support the mission and objectives of the Department and the University; Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or University Management. Qualifications and Experience Applicants must possess: An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university: PhD in Old Testament Studies; PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field; PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline. A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field; A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university; KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification; Minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience at tertiary level; Evidence of scholarly research and publications in the relevant field; Meets the University requirements for appointment to the rank of Lecturer; Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable; Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will be an added advantage; Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing; Demonstrated commitment to Adventist education, mission, and values; Strong interpersonal, communication, teaching, and mentoring skills; Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software will be an added advantage. go to method of application »
